Who is LCMHA?

LCMHA (Lenawee Community Mental Health Authority) provides or manages a full array of services to adults and children with mental health and/or emotional disturbances, persons with substance use disorders, and persons with developmental disabilities. What would this job entail?

The Geriatric Specialist will:

  • Provide direct mental health services to clients in the Geriatric Services Program, including assessment of mental health needs and case management services, including placement planning, advocacy, etc.;
  • Conduct OBRA Assessments: psychosocial assessments, and summarize psychiatric assessments;
  • Act as a consultant to local facilities, including hospitals, long-term nursing facilities, assisted living facilities, etc. regarding mental health in older adults and OBRA program regulation;
  • Carry out additional duties as assigned by supervisor.

The qualifications for this position are:

  • Master's degree in Social Work, Psychology or related field from an accredited program;
  • Licensed or certified by the State of Michigan in social work, psychology, or other related behavioral health field.
  • Specialized training or one-year of prior experience in gerontology.
  • Experience with older adults in long-term care or mental health setting; knowledge of mental health system / aging services and being skilled in assessment of older adults, treatment, and consultation is desired.

The annualized salary range for this position is $50,368 to $39,585 per year (based on a 37-1/2 hour work week).

The benefits package includes:

  • Health and vision insurance -- coverage starts on the first day of the month after being hired. Employees who have health insurance coverage elsewhere are given a health insurance opt-out payment.
  • Dental insurance (at no cost) coverage starts on the first day of the month after being hired.
  • Paid Time Off benefit combines vacation, sick and personal leave benefits into one comprehensive plan, and begins as of the first day of employment. A newly hired full-time employee accrues 6.50 hours every two-week pay period (about 22-1/2 days for the first year). The number of hours an employee accrues is based on length of service; the hours accrued increases after one year, five years, and ten years of employment.
  • Paid Holidays -- LCMHA observes 11-1/2 paid holidays per year; eligible for paid holidays as of the first day of employment.
  • Short-Term and Long-Term Disability Insurance / Life Insurance (at no cost) -- coverage starts on the 91st day of employment.
  • Retirement Benefits participation starts on your first day of employment.
